I started out with 40 thouhs, which was the permanent gap of my old trusty Malt Mill. The resulting crush was coarser due to the deeper knurl on the Monster Mill. I then went to 39 thouhs.

WEBDec 24, 2015 · These should be tall enough to overhang the lid by 1/2″. Cut the pieces for the hopper out of scrap plywood. Cut a circular hole in the bottom of the plastic bucket, leaving about a 1″ margin around the edge (see pictures below). Set the bucket on the lid top and trace this circle onto the surface of the lid top.

I sometimes use " for grists with a portion wheat, " for most grists, with a 2 roller MM2 PRO with 2" rollers. But I find anything in the " range is a good all purpose starting point.
